DW> Forgive a "mere" Mac user, but how can a file have more than one
EOF?
Normally, they wouldn't, but I have run into it
this way:
I'm on the BBS, with CAPture turned on, so
everything on screen is sent to a text file. There's
some line noise or someone picks up the extension phone
and ")*^&*$*^%##$@!$%)(P*YHKVJTIRES$&%#R(" is put in
the file. It may contain a CHR$(26), also known a EOF.
Later in the day - or week - I want to look back at my
capture file and guess where it ends!
I wrote a QB program that opens the file as
RANDOM, INSTRings to all CHR$(26)'s and changes them to
CHR$(1). I can now read the file in EDIT,
WordPerfect, or whatever! If I then want to save (part of)
the file, I can delete the crud.
