Well for starts, it is nice and warm, just holding a cup in your hands
tends to relax most people... having it inside you does the same...
and people with colds are usually hurting some...
Then there is the method of covering the cup opening with your hands
and breathing the warm, moist air from between your thumbs while waiting
for it to cool... I find that that opens air passages quite well...
Of course this can be said of any nice warm liquid... my favourite is
Lemonade... (someone copied this and calls it NeoCitran). You have to
take your acetominephen separately... throw in a few vitamins and you
 have it...
I for one don't think that the coffee itself is the healer... but I could
be wrong about that... I'm not a scientist. A Miami hospital did study
chicken soup... their results were similar to my opinion of warm drinks.
 Soothing... especially given with TLC.
Hope the storms keep away, or moderate... we're getting a short reprieve
in the BC Interior... but you likely get some of what we miss.
