JH> Well, I know about McIntosh amps, and no way in hell can I afford
JH> em...
They are expensive, but you wouldn't need 4 of them.
JH> My mind is still set on the PPI Sedona amps... I was gonna get 4
JH> 4-channel amps... bridge 2 of em and run the other 2 in 4 chnl mode
JH> for my interior mids & tweetz.
I shy away from bridging, since it does undesirable things to the
ability of the amp to control the drivers, just like running into
low impedences does.
JH> I know about the acoustic problems of
JH> cars, sounds reflecting offa glass. Also the nice low freq bass boost
JH> that most cars have is real nice... kinda brings yer -3db point from
JH> say 40Hz, to like 16Hz.
Yes, but there is another problem with bass in small spaces; the
long wavelengths don't have a chance to develop, and while this may
sound louder, it doesn't sound "right".
JH> (Read article in CarAudio mag about that
JH> thang... lose nothing gain everything). But there was a BMW with
JH> 13"'ers in the kick panels and motorized mid/tweets that rose up outa
JH> the dash and they said the imaging in that car was like a concert hall!
JH> So, it can be done, but it's a question of what do you wanna pay?!
That's exactly what the question is! Like they say.. "speed is only
a matter of money", so too, is audio! Take care.
