G'day Johnno! -=> In a message on 22 Jan 96 <=- -=> John Piper said this to Stephen Lennie <=- SL> ...and the NetComm SmartModem strings... SL> CONNECT 28800/MNP-4/MNP-5/V.FC V.FC with MNP-4 & MNP-5 (ARQ implied) JP> Which S-register settings can I tweak to force these result codes? I JP> recall you suggesting some strings a while back, but I have long since JP> forgotten them. Here is my profile dump (sans &Z settings et al): JP> B0 E1 L1 M1 T Q0 R0 V1 W2 X5 &B4 &C1 &D2 &G0 &H0 &K3 &L0 &M0 &N1 &P1 &R0 JP> &S1 &T4 &X0 &Y9 \A3 \B3 \J0 \K5 \N3 \T0 \V0 \X0 #A2 #B0 #C1 #E0 #F0 #I0 JP> #J1 #K0 #O0 #V1 %B1 %C3 %D0 %E1 %F1 %G0 %H0 %K0 %M0 %N0 %P0 %X1 -Q0 :E0 JP> S000:000 S002:043 S003:013 S004:010 S005:008 S006:004 S007:030 S008:004 JP> S009:006 S010:018 S011:070 S012:050 S018:000 S025:005 S026:000 S030:000 JP> S033:003 S042:016 S043:015 S045:098 S047:008 S066:010 S067:042 S069:060 1. The "&Y9" on the second line would tend to indicate that something's a little screwy in your M11F's memory. I recommend you do a "AT&F." reset before you do anything else. ^ Also, after a power-up or "ATZ" the S42 register should be 000 not 016 or any other value. 2. What version of firmware does your M11F have? The "%B" command hasn't been seen since the V2.56B firmware. The latest version is V2.61L and it can be downloaded from NetComm OnLine BBS by calling (02) 878 3755 or (02) 888 6904. It's pretty easy to install - if you have any problems or questions NetMail me at 3:640/101. 3. Is this M11F used on your BBS? If it is, I *strongly* recommend that you change the "#A2" to "#A0". If you haven't defined a password it's dead simple for a caller to remotely access your modem and frig around with the settings (even accidentally). IMHO "#A0" should have been the default. 4. Now, finally, those extended connect responses... Use the "\V1" and "%U2" commands. Depending on your firmware version you may only be able to use "%U1" instead of "%U2". Note: you will have to upgrade your firmware to V2.61L before you will see the "/V.FC" suffix. BFN _ (_` ._)teve ~~~ PGPWave v1.22a Beta / PGP 2.6.2 - Key ID: FB370259 # Origin: Stephen S.
