I understand your concern with the NFB of LA running a training center.
This and related topics have been, and remain to be controvrsial within the
organization. We all remember the heated debates in the 1980's. Are we a
watchdog organization, a service provider, or both?
As we get larger, and more powerful, our position in the field of blindness
has changed. As some of our traditional oponents go away -- NAC etc., we
need to offer different services to our members. I think these reasons, and
others, including frustration with the present rehab system, are why we have
gotten into training centers.
No one person is all good, or all bad. I am sure this is true of May Nelson
or whatever her name is. The same could be said of Joanne Wilson, Suzanne
Mitchell, myself, or even you. The question then becaomes how do we support
the good, and change the bad. Much of the disagreement on this thread comes
down to substance and style in how we do that.
