Cathy,
CB>I have tried that, I go into (Insert) "Date and Time", select the date
CB>style I want and it prints: April 16, 1997.
CB>Then I go down further in the document and select the tool button and it
CB>prints: 04/16/97.
CB>I have even tried selecting the tool button after selecting the (Insert)
CB>"Date and Time" and before. Neither works.
CB>Have you tried this on your system, does it work?
I have, and it does. I think your mistake was that you need to select
the field you inserted with the button, then select Date/Time from
the Insert menu and change the format ... *then* it will change the
default format for future insertions via the button, at least for the
life of that particular Word session.
The next session, you'll find the default format set back to the first
format in the list (at least, that's what happens to me in Word 6).
In my case, I usually like to insert the date, not the date field, and I
didn't find an existing button to do it. In case anyone else out there
has a similar requirement, and like me hasn't done any toolbar
customising before, here's how:
Select "Customize" from TOOLS. Under the Toolbars tab, choose "All
Commands", which gives you exactly what it says! Then choose
InsertDateTime, and drag it to the toolbar. You'll get a blank button,
and a CustomButton window pops up, to allow you to either select one of
a limited range of existing button designs, or to create your own.
Hope this is useful.
Regards,
Hasan
