Did she mean to work on the floor above the "glass ceiling"? Or what WAS
she going on about?

Well, as I recall, our dollar has long stacked up better against the
Japanese yen than has the American dollar!

Might be cuz the Yanks have a slight problem with fair trading. . .

The Japanese sell lots of cars in the US(& here) because they've come up
with something people WANT (smaller, quieter, better on gas
consumption); and they make money for it, but Detroit (US automobile
center) complained to Washington that Japan wasn't buying US vehicles,
not even the new smaller ones!

You might think, on first glance, that that's unfair, until you learn
that the US was shipping cars as-is (the way they make & ship them
domestically), with left-hand drive, when Japan drives on the other side
of the road (a la Britain!)

Japan always manufacturered left-hand drive vehicles for the American
market, but they were expected to retrofit the bass-ackwards cars the
yanks sent over, on their own dime! :|
