You should be able to move the HP 4P Scanner onto a PCI SCSI card in a 
different system, ideally yo'd be looking for an adaptec card with an 
external SCSI-2 connector (which I think is what you are referring to as 
a D-connector, alternatively cables / adapters do exist to convert 
between SCSI standards and the newer "fast SCSI" can work at the slower 
SCSI-2 speed, however beware of LVM connectors - as their name says, 
they are "Low Voltage" - hence won't work with your old scanner that 
requires the higher voltages.
