Jim,

Possibly, but not likely I'd think.  It sounds more like a hard-wired 
problem... switch wires on the fan plug around.  You could probably 
check it with a multimeter.

The BIOS update I mentioned allowed disabling the 'power down if the 
fans are not running' feature. Apparently there were a lot of fans that  
didn't signal properly, and a lot of fans with no signal lead.  That 
was, BTW, an Epox board.  There was a LOT of discussion about it in the 
Epox NG at the time.
