MR> JL> Thanks for the reply. Now does that mean that I should not use my old
MR> JL> Qmodem with this new high-speed modem? I can set by (buad) rate in
MR> JL> Qmodem to a rate that is FASTER than my modems 33.6...???
MR>NO, you can still use qmodem. YES, a faster baud than 33.6.
Thanks again. You were right, and I DID find in Qmodem a setting for DET
Lock which WAS set to ON, however this was set pryor to my "tinkering"
with any settings. If you notice any mis-configured settings, please
respond:
Xon/Xoff=OFF
CTS/RTS Flow=ON
RTS when writing=OFF
Fifo durring shell=ON
Lock DTE Baud Rate=ON
High Speed Xmit=ON
16550 Uart Enable=ON
Init Ignors CD=OFF
Rockwell RPI=OFF
Default Baud Rate =38400 (my modem is 33.6)
Init AT&FE1Q08X1V1S7=60
and I have AT&F&C1&D2 stored in non volital memory.
I have been getting much better results since I dumped a TSR i had
reporting memory usage and my downloads are running at 3350 (+/- a few
cps) which I believe is around 26800 bps (cps * 8 = bps)..[?] And I
guess thats not too shabby because I can't expect to run at a true 33.6.
The thing that gets me is that the Carrier Test in Modem Dr. for windows
reports 33 receive errors every time and gives me that response about my
DTE not being locked. That does not concern me in DOS if all is running
well, however I use the Windows environment for connecting to the Net.
Also, NUTE reports 1 kb per sec, and a bunch of CRC errors.
Now..that all may change this week as I'm installing a new mainboard and
cpu. We'll have to wait and see. Thanks for your help,
Jim
