They have TV cameras and he had to sign a release to be on the
"show". Americans and all people everywhere love to play along to
be on TV. They were making a comedy and they wanted a role in the show.  So
they provide the straight lines to Borat's comedy.  People will also gladly
proclaim dog food tastes tests better than prime rib, if it will get them
on a TV commercial.

No difference, except for idiot reporters not smart enough to understand,
and those who repeat the idiot reporters statements.
