I connect with Paul daily from almost 1000km away, usually at 28800/28800,
although one or two connects have negotiated at 26400/28800, with an almost
instantaneous shift up to full speed.  V.34 Sportster this end, BTW.

Nope, it's a fairly old 14400 model, ROM revision unknown.
