Dear Conrad, Re your message:- => Just want to know if anyone has experience with the Diamond chipset => (Pump TM) v.34 modems. These modems, were selling for $299 which => were very cheap. You are a little confused. There is no "Diamond chipset". Pump(tm) means ¨that Pump is a Trademark. DataPump is also a Trademark. Both series of V.34 ¨28.8k modems use the Rockwell(tm) chip set. The exact same chipset in fact. The only difference between the Pump and DataPump series was that the Pump ¨series was not AUSTEL approved, while the DataPump series is AUSTEL approved. The Pump series is no longer marketed as the price difference between AUSTEL ¨and non-AUSTEL modems is no longer as big as it once was. There is simply ¨no point in marketing non-AUSTEL modems any more. In fact the V.34 DataPump is now selling at the same $299 price the Pump was ¨selling for. In the near future the new V.34 Voice/Fax/Data/SpeakerPhone ¨will be released at only about 10% more than the current V.34 Fax/Data ¨models. So standard V.34 models will be forced down in price or perhaps even ¨forced off the market. Oh, I forgot to mention that there was possibly one other difference between ¨Pump and DataPump models - Some Pump models did not recognise all Australian ¨Dial Tones while the DataPump series did recognise Australian Dial Tone. ¨However, don't forget that even some other brands of AUSTEL approved modems ¨(ASKEY DynaLink for example) do not recognise Dial Tone.
