RC> very much. What _does_ matter, though, is that _some_ of the
 RC> "K56Flex" products
RC> _aren't_ interoperable - the various manufacturers agreed on a
 RC> standard but not
RC> all have released compliant products.
All client-side K56flex product is interoperable with other Open Forum
members product. The only difference being that Livingston Portmasters
have used a Lucent datapump which will only fully interoperate with
client side modems with code ver.516 and above.
Not all client side makers have yet developed their loaders for higher
codes. Zoom's won't be ready for a fortnight yet for example, although
the firmware code itself is complete, and all new K56flex Zoom product
is already at ver1 or above.
RC> Also, some of the K56 hardware
RC> has a programmable EPROM, but a non-programmable datapump, which _may_
 RC> require a trip
RC> to the factory to replace to update to the ITU standard.
This affects only the first K56Plus makers, of which Zoom was not one
All current shipping contains the Flashable datapump
