Even now, I do almost no web.  I had barely learned about telnet (which,
if set up for one well enough, works essentially as a variant of dial-up
as far as accessing the bbs is concerned), and was, and still am, doing
it all solely in DOS.  All this computer stuff is akin to magic as far
as I'm concerned...  I may be a sorcerer's apprentice, and may sound as
though I understand what I'm doing once I've done it enough, but that's
about it...  The wizard keeps it all running... and knows better than to
try to overload me with too many new "magic spells" at once... 

So, to answer the question...  Maybe FTP or HTTP could have been an
option, but, as far as I was concerned, not really.

Also, my main concern was to continue getting message packets from the
offline mail doors on the BBS, and to reply via the reply packets for
the same, having read/replied offline.  Would that have been do-able via
FTP and HTTP, especially still using my Bluewave Reader?
