Do any of those attack ad mailers tell the recipient that if your mother is
dead then they can vote for her?

The emails are not as far as I
can tell sent over
a private secured network. I wonder what validations are in place to ensure
the person sending the email is indeed the voter and that the ballot hasn't
been tampered with. They do seem to mention at least some of the risks to
the military personnel.

  Identity theft isn't
something that I would joke
about. it can take years to correct, surly you would not wish that on
anyone, much less our troops.

Since you bring up dead voters
I wonder why the
Republicans keep sending attack ads to my mother, who's been dead
for a year.

The emails are held private by DOD, and the military's right to vote is more important than worrying about a democrat trying to steal their SSN. People who don't have to prove they are citizens to vote and don't have to show a voter photo ID to vote don't have to worry about having their identity stolen. Many have likely stolen the identity of a real dead or alive voter already. Gary Robert G Lewis wrote:

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A New Jersey congressman raised questions Thursday about a new military voting program that lets service members request and submit their ballots by fax or e-mail. Pentagon spokeswoman Cynthia Smith said the Defense Department has set up a secure absentee voter program that will allow military members to request and receive absentee ballots. The new program, she said, lets people vote without relying on the regular mail system. As part of the program, many states allow military members deployed overseas to return their completed ballot via fax or the Internet. Those ballots, Smith said, will not pass through the hands of any government officials until they are received by a local election authority. The congressman says he's worried that making it easy for military overseas and in Iraq to vote via Internet absentee ballots might cause them to be subject to identity theft. YEAH RIGHT. He also said they should get a flu shot when voting in the DOD's Internet voting for military.
