yes, it falls forward and backwards depending on line condition, with one
interesting "feature" in that if it falls to farc back the modem
decids that the line is to bad to use and drops the connection. i think
that the old microcom vfc's  did this as well, not sure.

i have one of the the newer microcom deskporte fast plus vfc and v34
