Their only concern is that the walls work politically, as barriers to their
political opposition.

Having said that, there's little chance we'll be building anything on the
Mexican border (and no chance of any kind of US-Canada barrier). Even
though Congress authorized some of it southern wall, they did not fund it. 
It was simply another piece of empty political theater from the masters of
empty political theater.
