I tried hard contacts years ago, but there was also a blister right near
the tip of the eyeball, which then generated multiple images, and I
couldn't stand the hard contacts, so opted out, and just have a balance
lens in the right side. Back in 78 when this was diagnosed, the eye doctor
said to hold off on the surgery (cornea transplant), as long as possible.
At that time, it was ultra expensive, not high success rate, and he said
the special knives were in short supply. That was enough for me....LOL....
(and he helped develop the surgery to do the transplants).

Now, it's far easier, FAR higher success rate. It doesn't seem as risky
now, at this age anymore.
