  I don't pretend to be an art snob, but this doesn't appear to be a case
of the townspeople calling the first impressionist painting ugly.  The
jagged thing it totally out of the spirit of the games.    Almost any of
the alternative choices look much better and more suited to the event.   I
wonder what they were thinking ... was it a case of design by committee in
which they compromise themselves to death?
