subject: Re: [OS2HW] BTW Thanks Dani, one more time

Hello
I just wanted to express my sincere gratitude and respect for Dani and
her awesome Danis506 work. As advanced and up-to-date as Linux is becoming
as a result of Udev and Hotplug in the hardware detection and setup game,
there still remains more than one problem with SATA, at least with some
situations and some chipsets. One example of "situations" is
mixing PATA and SATA. Another has to do with SATA optical (scsi atapi)
devices. I have a box with both of those conditions and so far 3 different
distros and half a dozen kernels and patches has yet to make it work. Upon
first boot with the new SATA Plextor PX-716SA on an nForce 3 chipset mobo,
and with nothing done to prepare other than the normal utilization of
Danis506, Bingo! there it was and it works fine right "off the
bat". The only miniscule wrinkle is a wise one where it is default
assigned PIO4 rather UDMA but since it reports that and pauses nicely upon
boot, it's a no brainer. Very nicely done as per usual Dani. Kudos

!

Sincerely
Jimmy
