PL>> You should switch from Com/IP to NetSerial... 25 bux to register PL>> under the SysOp deal. Far superior than Com/IP. Evrything I PL>> have tried it out with works fine, even stuff I couldn't get to PL>> work right under Com/IP. You don't need to worry about all those PL>> crazy S registers used with Com/IP either. Ezy will probably work PL>> with just AT&D2| for the init string. PL>> Phil RW> Hmm. Okay, is there a shareware version that I can download and RW> try There is a 30 day free trial. RW> and will it run under Windows 2003 Server? Yes it will. All popular versions of Windows (both Server and Workstation versions) are supported on both the server and client ends: Windows Small Business Server 2003 Windows Server 2003 Windows XP (Pro and Home) Windows 2000 (Server and Pro) Windows NT4-SP6 (Server or Workstation) Windows Terminal Services Windows running Citrix Metaframe RW> I run my BBS under RW> Windows 2003 Small Business Server so really need something that RW> will run under that. It is available at the same place you -used- to gety Com/IP ... PCMicro... http://www.pcmicro.com/NetSerial/ Although the liscensing page on the site shows 90bux for a single computer license, there is a BBS SysOp deal for 25bux. I have been using it for my old FrontDoor setup that I had scrapped when Com/IP went to their new HIGHLY insane liscencing structure. It's ludicrous. So far netserial has worked flawlessly with everything I've tested it with, including the terminal program built into FD :) I never could get that to function properly under Com/IP. The major difference is the ability to use "normal" init strings... it is 100% hayes compatible in that respect. No more S=1001this and S=!0003=that... with FD, and recommended for any BBS software, simply AT&D2| Phil --- FMail/Win32 1.60 Netwo (1:267/169)* Origin: ==>== part of the NYCap/Adirondack SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 267/169 106/1 2000 633/267 |
