RS> ...How about all those who are hurt or

Alcohol induces accidents? I have never heard of an accident
or incident that was caused by alcohol. Every problem situation
I have heard about involving alcohol or any other drug appears to
have been caused by the person who caused the problem. At most,
the alcohol or other drug reduced inhibitions or impaired
perception or coordination. They didn't cause the bad act.

When did Cannabis ever cause a car wreck? (From what I understand,
marijuana has never even contributed to a vehicle collision.) In any
event, the position you state demonstrates a victim mentality that
places responsibility for harm on anything but the real cause --
people and their decisions. Consider putting responsibility where it
belongs: with those who choose to become intoxicated and drive.
You certainly are right about not learning from Prohibition I. On
the other hand, maybe the government did learn. After all, what
can be better for politicians and cops than to have people shoving
money at them and giving them power in the name of a "war" that
(learning from history) cannot be won, and so is guaranteed to
last. The anti-drug hysteria is the better for politics and
government power than communism and the Soviet Union.
Consider one more thing -- how is it that there are drug-crime
statues now without government having been given the constitutional
power to enact them? After all, we had to have a constitutional
amendment for Prohibition I to be put into effect.
