This is quit easy. ;-)

Begin
  Tmp:=Editor.SelText+'This is what should be added';
  ClipBoard.AsText:=Tmp;
  Editor.PasteFromClipboard;
End;
This will put the new text at the end of the selected text. Then it should be 
quit easy to convert it, if you want it in front of the text or on other 
places. :)
