Hi again, Jim!
JSS> Sorry for being so late with a response to your question. Gee! Almost
a
JSS> month late in answering you!! Many activities, including my wife,
Penny,
JSS> finishing studies for an associate degree at CCV (Community College of
JSS> Vermont) have kept me from making any immediate answers to folks here
n
JSS> HomeSchool echo.
No problem from this side, sometimes it takes me four hours to answer my
mail, with a normal (about 60 wpm) typing speed.
JSS> In answer to your question, I guess the reply would be that I'm
JSS> experiencing progressively-worsening nerve-root compressions in various
JSS> sites all throughout my body. Originally, diagnoses included multiple
JSS> peripheral neuropathies; progressive, multiple, neurological
impairments JSS> of unknown etiology (a fancy way of saying, "We don't know
what's wrong, JSS> and we're not going to find out because you can't pay for
the tests
JSS> which are _incredibly expensive_"); diabetic neuropathy; spinal
juries
Or, more likely, "We haven't got tests available for -your- particular
problems. :(
JSS> (multiple sites in neck and in lower back) considered to be
non-impactive
JSS> and non-impressive; multiple neuro-muscular pathologies of unknown
JSS> etiology. Essentially, what's happening is that my brain's messages to
JSS> other parts of my body are impeded and are too slow to evoke a timely
JSS> response. The same is true for messages sent to the brain from the
JSS> parts of my body.
Ouch! I'd love to get into this further with you -- does your SysOp carry
the Alternative Medicine echos such as _Bodyworks_(western)?
JSS> My feet and lower legs from the knees down, and my hands and arms from
JSS> elbows down, are very much encumbered in mobility. JSS> Especially in
regard to my hands, I've said that I type like lightning
JSS> because my fingers seldom strike the keyboard twice in the same place.
JSS> Whenever I type a line, I have to go back and correct many typos;
hat's
JSS> why I say thank God for offline mail readers because it takes me about
90
JSS> minutes to type a 15 minute message and make it somewhat readable.
And I don't currently have that option, having only one computer between me
and my SysOp...
JSS> Thanks for your concern and question. Since you state that you are a
JSS> massage therapist, I should tell you that massage therapy was once
JSS> considered but after neurological implications and after unsuccessful
JSS> neuro-surgery, it was determined that massage therapy wouldn't help me.
Who determined this? A doctor with no training/understanding of massage, or
a physical therapist, who's likely to lose money if you go to an MT? (Gotta
remember, they've all got their underlying motives for denying alternative
treatment...)
Willing to Help,
Eileen
