I disagree... IMO, it help to avoid anti-social methods of avoiding
bothersome people who you don't want to talk to.
Telephone solicitors with sequential dialers have taken what once was an
extension of the community meeting room and turned it into yet another
bothersome commercial pest. Caller-ID is one solution to the problem.
