subject: merge problem

Hi,
First I apologize if my question is not entirely understandable. I use the
Dutch version of Word 7 and I do not know all english names of the word
features.
The problem is: how can I combine the normal merge function and the
'catalog' merge function. I have to create documents that include one or
more tables. The number of rows of these tables are unknown beforehand.
An example of a document:
============================================
Dear {MERGEFIELD name},
The total amount of your order is {MERGEFIELD amount}.
You ordered these articles:
{MERGEFIELD artno} {MERGEFIELD artname] {MERGEFIELD artprice}
{MERGEFIELD artno} {MERGEFIELD artname] {MERGEFIELD artprice}
.......
The mentioned articles will be delivered as soon as possible but not later
than {MERGEFIELD latestdate}
Regards,
{MERGEFIELD myname}
===============================================
I have tried to solve this with the {NEXT record} function. But at the
moment that I skip to the next record the values of the first record are no
longer available (latestdate and myname).
I also tried to use the 'import database' function to read the
article-table from a separate data-file. This works but then the data is
read immediately and I do not know how to use this method in a main
template document.
I hope I explained the question plainly enough.
