subject: Re: [OS2HW] Dell Refurbs

Hello
It may also be worthwhile to remember that Dell uses proprietary hardware
which is often impossible to upgrade, or at the very least extremely
limited. This is not a Dell "feature" alone as it exists in many
major system builders, but afaik few besides Dell even limit what power
supplies one can use to their own. Personally I choose to boycott
companies that change things merely to avoid compatibility with no sight
toward improvement of any kind other than attempting to "improve"
the likelihood you must buy from them. IMHO that sort of
"improvement" should rightfully backfire.
This doesn't even touch on the problem of drivers, firmware, etc. for
unnecessarily proprietary hardware. That is another problem even for those
using a mainstream Op Sys, let alone we red-headed step-children wo choose
otherwise.
