Didn't think so. I started using them when I had to deal with Watcom and it 
didn't recognize Borland's fnsplit(). They worked under both. 
I also found that in many, if not all instances, fnsplit() wrecked the string 
it was supposed to split and I would have to perform an fnmerge on it with 
the 
components to get it back. Dunno why it did that though :(
