basic but decent standalone hi-fi systems. That seem to no longer be the
case.
Well, "can provide" may be in the wrong grammatical tense. I
have multiple sound systems around the house (and have had for
years), so I've never had an impetus to purchase anything for my
computers than cheap little Labtec speakers. After looking at
the site you copied, those systems are certainly affordable, but
I'm not certain how I would place those speakers in my present
room.
You brought up a couple of interesting points, one being your
reference to Dyna Stereo 80s. My second sound system was a full
set of Dynakits. (I still have the preamp sitting on a shelf in
the garage.) The speakers I have in my computer room are some
Jensen 8" coax speakers I got while I was in Annapolis in 1960.
They still sound pretty good, even if they didn't match up to
the Klipschorns that I always have wanted. (Talk about not
having adequate room for speakers!! ) But I get my best
sound reproduction from a pair of Sony CD-999 headphone which
I've had for about fifteen years. And they sound great just
plugged into my AW-32(?) sound cars.
