This won't help with your current hardware, but I've had success by
avoiding chipsets made by anyone other than Intel, after running into
several compatibility issues trying to run various post-Socket 7 VIA for
AMD chipsets. After many years of reading the OS/2 newsgroups, it seems
probable that IBM's limited repertoire of OS/2 programmers is Intel
oriented, limiting their testing thoroughness with non-Intel.
