As of now, all Telstra international voice circuits are using Coherent echo
cancellers with a new, (and presumably G.165 compliant) version of
firmware.

This should fix problems caused by the echo cancellers being activated
during some echo-cancelling modem calls.

If you've had more problems with Telstra than Optus for international modem
calls in the past, now's a good time to make another comparison.

The upgrade cost Telstra over a million dollars and will be superceded by
the new S12 gateway exchanges (which have echo cancellers built-in) being
commissioned at the moment.

This was the second piece of information that I couldn't previously mention.

(The first was the re-wording of the PSTS BCS Tariff defining
"business service").
