Disconnect the phone from the wall socket next time you want to use the modem and prove this to be the case. Having proved that the modem is the cause go back to your local Telstra business office and nicely tell them the problem and ask them to replace the phone with one that doesn't cause this problem. It is a well known problem and they should replace your current phone with a newer version. Regards ...
