Thanks so much for your very informative reply!
Yes, Linnea (her name when I got her was Mojo) is a piggy. She's a terrific
eater -- just about anything you offer her. She doesn't expend alot of
energy, though, so I have to watch her.
Her basic diet consists of 1)fruit and vegetables, 2)bean, rice and pasta
cooked with vegetables and 3)"bird bread" with whole grains, fruit or
vegetables, eggshells & eggs, pureed nuts and seeds, etc. 4)treats - an
almond a day, sharing toast, etc.
There were some vague comments about her being abused by a ten year old boy,
but nobody seems to know the whole story. I, for one, think she just stays
quiet so she won't get noticed, probably due to bad experiences.
She's fine on my hand or shoulder, but only for a few minutes. She has a
very stubborn streak in her and she doesn't hesitate to let me know if I'm
ticking her off. She grabs my finger (lightly) and gives me "that meaningful
look." I just let her know that i'm not afraid of being bitten (she's never
bitten me hard after the first 24-48 hours).
She growls at me, because I'm always kissing her or petting her. She just
wants to have her head rubbed and no other "funny stuff." I just take the
attitude that "you're always going to get your beak kissed when you go to
bed" --like it or not, etc.
She's just so calm -- no rowdiness, very little playing except an occasional
chew -- that it worries me that maybe she's still way down inside her shell.
She doesn't want to be noticed, but she's getting better with me only. (It's
just me and the pets here). Either that, or she'll just never be a wild &
crazy girl. I truly can't tell which. Progress seems to move so slowly with
her.
She is like yours -- anything new is cause for terror.
They're like all of the people you've ever known -- really distinct and
individualistic personalities.
I appreciate hearing about your birds and how they operate. If this info
provides and food for more comments, let me know. Thanks for writing -- I
appreciate your taking the time.
