That's precisely why the cost continues to skyrocket. Twenty years ago, if
you had a heart attack you spent two days in our little local ICU, and then
a few days on the ward, and a few weeks of recovery. Or maybe you died.

Now you'll get a three thousand dollar clotbuster, and immediate helicopter
transfer to Vancouver, where you'll get an angioplasty and stents. You are
less likely to die (I think), but the cost is huge. Technology lets us do
much more, but it certainly doesn't drive down cost.
