Even though you say card and monitor are capable of 85Hz at that

resolution, it really sounds to me as if you are exceeding the refresh

rate that the monitor can handle when you switch to full screen. If

you are using Scitech video drivers, there are some test programs

that come with them that should be able to let you test this.
