Hi Diane,
 DB> I am sewing and a professional seamstress and I can't figure out a
DB> term unsed on the pattern. It says to do a *French Tuck*.. Does
DB> anyone know that that is supposed to be??? I know this is a craft bbs
I've never come across this term in 20+ years of sewing so I checked out
several of my sewing books. I didn't come across any references to
French tucks, however, my "Couture Sewing Techniques" by Claire B.
Schaeffer, referrs to French tacks. She defines it as a thread chain
made by a hand crocheted chain stitch used to hold two or more layers or
sections loosely together. It's also called a swing tack. Does this
resemble the use called for in your pattern? I checked my Vogue Sewing
book, Singer basic sewing book, a tailoring one by Adelie Margolis and
the one referred to above. Hopefully, your pattern sheet just has a
misprint; can you call the company and ask them to clarify it? If they
do, please let us here know what they said.
Catch you later,
Ruth
