I am not familiar with the model nos. of IBM laptops and my wife has an 
opportunity to purchase a used model 610 from her employer for $120 
CAD.  Her aim is to use this laptop for the short term, ~6 months, then 
replace it with a newer ThinkPad or Toshiba.  I did a search for this 
model on Lenovo's site with no hits, but see references to the 600 
series on Bill Morrow's site, , such as 
battery issues & an article on how to "mount a HDD over the 6 gig 
limitation" for a "760X series".  Of course, the 600 series
may be newer 
& not suffer such a limitation.  However, I do not see any search 
facility on this site, which is a shame, so will have to glean as much 
as possible from these articles.  I am interested in knowing any 
problems &/or limitations from any current or former owner/users of a 
Model 610, or the 600 series, as well as any other site where reliable 
information is available.

Would anyone offer advice on such a purchase?
