Hi Hans,
Sounds like you have "Protected Saves" turned off. This is the mechanism
that
allows the editor to create a temporary file, the rename/delete the original,
then rename the temp file to the original file name. (Voila, there is a file
to salvage, and there isn't a .BAK file.) With this turned off, it just
overwrites the original file.
So, if you turn this on (it's under Options / Full Configuration /
System/File
Options on the menus), then everything should be okay.
