 P.S. NOTE: Knowing you have both the technical interest and
  sense of humor to handle micro breakthroughs, I would pass
  on the following item from Popular Mechanics (Jan. 98). For
  the first time, combined research teams from Univ. of Rochester,
  Princeton, Tennessee and Stanford have created matter from
  light using, the the Stanford Linear Accelerator and a very
  high powered laser. No *clear-detailed* explanation was
  givem in a very short paragraph.
