I agree that Bimbos, and its sequel Zombies of the Gene Pool, are pretty
harsh on fandom. Yes, there is a place, and an important one, for
critiquing fannish ways and mores. (And unfortunately, my mouth seems
to have picked that place a few too many times....) But I thought she
was overly harsh in both; the female prof was awfully snide for someone
who obviously was fairly wellversed in fandom -- and so was the author.
Particularly for someone who writes Mary Sue mysteries where Mary Sue
not only slobbers over but wins and weds the Scotsman of her dreams....
I'm not bitter. :)
Seriously, though. I've never found the McCrumb Scottish Games mystery:
is she as hard on them as she is on us?
For a good SCA critique and mystery, try Mary Monica Pulver's _Murder at
the War_ aka _Knight Fall_. Her other mysteries are also excellent --
and compassionate.

Er, celebrates? Did you hear the last two verses? :)
