Yeah, Claire has the right idea; keep the weight down, but still
retain decent performance, which is a good compromise.

I personally don't like EAW cabinets very much, because I find them
to be a bit harsh in the mid-high regions, but they are very powerful
as far as SPLs are concerned; the 2 inch HF drivers will rip your
head off if you aren't careful! My problem with EAW is not EAW
cabinets themselves, but rather that I am used to the sound of Meyer,
which kinda ruins me for anything else, but then not many folks can
justify the expense of Meyer gear.

Oh, YES! Those Vari-Lites are wonderful! I am also fond of Morpheus.
I did a show recently where the lighting company had something like
60 cans and 8 Intellabeams, with 2 smoke machines and extensive
computer control; very nice, considering the cost, and the size of
the venue. The lighting system made my sound system look puny!

I know how *that* is; most frustrating! That's similar to the
situation at the above-mentioned show; the lighting was great, but
the guy running it was new to the system, and blew his whole wad
during the first song, in an effort to get used to the gear. It was
still a pretty show, but he didn't have anything new and special
for the hotter points in the performance. We are doing the same deal
on October 31st, and hopefully he will have learned his lesson from
the previous show. Take care.
... If it's professional.............it ain't Peavey!
