I am not sure there is any "standard" gear any more. I have a similar
situation to yours; several MBs that eCS won't install on and a socket
7, AMD 550 that it will install on; providing I give it a clean HDD and
a single primary partition - at least with install LVM I get to chose
the drive letter. I then copy it to the HDD on the machine I intend to
run it on as an extended. I have an ECS MB that boots fine, but I can't
get the mouse or KB to work.

It seems the more OS/2 gets "improved", the more difficult it is to
install. I have spent about two years, as a once in a while effort, to
get eCS on an AMD 64. I am on my third MB; ASUS K8V-X. I am about to
declare it ready to go on-line.

Because I am considering changing versions of the three platforms I use,
this HDD is a bit more "cluttered" than normal. It has two DOS, W98SE
and W2K, W4UPDATECD, eCS 1.2rm and eCS 2.0, plus a mix of FAT16, FAT32
and HPFS app and data partitions. If it is any consolation, this box
will not except the W98SE install CD either. DRDOS EMM386 crashes.
FREEDOS with the "Q" stuff is OK. W2K was no problem.

eCS 1.2rm installed on my laptop OK. And that into an existing
extended, twice, both before and after WXP and W2K were on the drive.

Standards, what standards?
