I am presently running this system on a Silicon Image 3112 based
SATARaid card "SATA3112-150R" (cost AU$ 35). This is marketted in
Australia under the "Connectland" name as a PCI Serial ATA Host
Controller Card, however I'm sure it is marketted elsewhere in the world
under a different company name as it's a generic card. There are RAID
and non-RAID versions of this card, so make sure you get the one that
says SATA RAID on the top of one of the chips. It is a hardware RAID-0/1
(striping/mirroring) only card and the configuration is by pressing F4
when prompted at start up, when a menu is displayed to configure the
disks. This part is in the cards BIOS and hence OS agnostic.

At present I only have one SATA drive, so I'm not yet running either of
the two RAID options.

The questions arise of how one accesses and controls the RAID Array from
the Operating system. This is where the driver could give some support
issues passing through commands. At least in my case, the management
program supplied is pure JAVA so it "should" run under OS/2 or eCS
without any problems, but it may not be able to pass its commands down
to the controller via the Dani driver (I simply don't know at this stage
- it "may" work).

If you don't mind having to reboot if you want to chack or change your
RAID configuration, you shouldn't need to install any software under
OS/2 as the BIOS based control program allows all required functions.

Cheers/2

Ed.
