In my opinion, it all started with the Domino Theory of the advancement of
communism, after the Iron Curtain went up, putting it in the late 40s.
Thanks to "Tail-Gunner Joe" McCarthy for starting the crap we're seeing
again.

All in all, 50+ years.  Orwell's probably spinning in his grave.
