I despise drive letters, so LVM is to me a step in the right direction.
We are eCS/OS2 users. It's expected that we all have different likes and
dislikes.

I suspect this is more a dislike of the quality of the original LVM code.
Most of the nits have been worked out. With eCS, I hear very little about
LVM problems. Also, while I don't know what Dani is running these days, I
would be careful about describing her current preferences based on code
that has not been updated in over 4 years.
IAC, if you are willing to install from boot diskettes, you should be able
to install WSeB without LVM, but that's a topic for some other list.

No, it's not obvious. I recently worked with someone who insists on
running Warp4 without FPs. He was trying to get XWorkPlace installed.
Also, in the case of your AMD64, there were install issues, but I'm pretty
sure even the FP15 level kernels will run without AMD64 specific issues.
I certainly don't see anything specific in Scott's readmes.
