That's what startech tech support told me (in response to my filling in
their form email thinggy) - they suggested I look at a more advanced
model.  Since the machine in question is destined for a scrap heap (or
better, a worthy recipient who won't mind a K6 300mhz machine), it's not a
big issue here - the soon-to-be replacement machine (a hand-me-down from
my wife, who for a change is getting a new machine rather than one of my
hand-me-downs) has a PS2 mouse port.
