BK> What is New Zealand fence?
It is an electrified fence that uses 12.5 ga. Hi- tensile smooth wire
that is stretched to 250 pounds per wire. Each wire has tensioning springs
and tighteners to keep it tight in hot and cold temps and it will give and
spring back if a horse runs into it or a tree falls on it.The corners have
to be strong and braced to take the strain. The line posts can be 100 ft
apart with battens every 25ft,(I am putting my posts every 50ft) I am using
6in round treated wood posts in the corners, 4-5in for the line, and fiber-
glass for the battens. The number of wires and the spacing is determined
by the type of livestock to be contained.
These fences are popular up here in Wash. They are long lasting,
inexpensive, easy to repair, and very tough.
Boy! that was a long answer for a short question:)

BK> Don't feel bad.. chuckle.. the high desert up here is the same way.. and
BK> three of us put up an arena in three days! Not sure any of our backs were
BK> the same since we used a two man held auger.
My neighbor rented one of those hand held augers and it really beat them
up. I have to stop about every 3rd hole and repair the business end of my
auger and hammer out the spirals. It seems like I am working on this auger
more than I am drilling holes with it:( Tomorrow I am going to dig a hole
by hand and time myself to see if the auger is really saving any time.
