Well, the public schools will always be around. We could do away with
the USDoE and the NEA. They are a drag. Roman Catholics oppose
contraceptive methods as the Pope said so; the rest of us do what we
think is the right thing. One cannot demean a movement that is already
demeaning. Pluralism, multiculturalism, and diversity do not have the
same connotations today (nay, even denotations) when I learned what
these words meant back in junior high.

Let's unite to see how much further we can separate the Americans one
from the other. After all, we've killed off the heroes... All that's
left are the hoi polloi. If we can get them killing each other because
of the hue of their skin, why God only knows how much power we can have
until the rest of the world eats us alive.
The public school system where I teach is not the least bit threatened.
Our goal is to raise the student's test scores to pre-1963 levels.
Personally, I think it's kinda hard to do that when I'm teaching 7th
graders things they should have learned in the 4th grade and what I've
seen of the standard tests is laughable.
Forgive me for going off on a tangent. I thought this conference was for
and about educators/education. I didn't think it was a liberal sounding
board.
