faster trhoughput possible when communicating. parallel xfers tend to have 
approx 1/8 of the overhead as well as the bits serial don't have to be 
re-assemled to be a byte... :-)
however, a special fossil is required that does support parallel port(s). It 
should be available from ZyXEL I understand (delivered with the modem I 
ink)
